Workshop : Design of Electrical Systems for Medical Devices | 6 Dec 2015

It is our pleasure to inform you that IEEE UM Student Branch is organizing a workshop on “Design and Protection of Low Voltage Electrical Systems for Healthcare Facilities and Medical Devices” in collaboration with Centre for Innovation in Medical Engineering (CIME).
The workshop got 5 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points by the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM)

ABSTRACT
This course shall provide the participants with practical knowledge on design, sizing, protection of LV electrical wiring and good engineering practices on erection, inspection, test and commissioning, operation and maintenance of LV electrical systems for healthcare facilities such as Hospitals and Medical Centres, with emphasis on electrical safety and health, and energy efficiency electrical installation. This course shall high light Malaysian national deviations to requirements of IEC 60364.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Ir. K.T. Lim received the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from University of Malaya in 1979 and Master  of  Science  (Electrical)  from  National  University  of  Singapore  in  1991.  He  began  his engineering career with semiconductor industries where he worked for eight years in semiconductor process,  equipment  maintenance  and  automatic,  product,  and  test  engineering  before  joining Singapore Polytechnics for three years as lecturer and industrial consultant in electrical and industrial electronics engineering and applications, while  further his Masters of Science (Electrical) in NUS. Since returning to Malaysia in 1991,  Ir.  K.T. Lim  has  been  actively  involved  in  applications engineering in the field of low voltage electrical engineering, especially IEE, IEEE, MS IEC and IEC compliance,  and  electronics  system  and  controller  design.  He  is  actively  involved  with  engineering organization  such  as  SIRIM  Malaysian  Standards on  writing  in  electrical  installations,  protection  and insulation, biomedical engineering and functional safety, and conducting seminars LV electrical safety of critical healthcare facilities. Moreover, Ir. K.T. Lim conducts specialized electrical installation and design courses to institutions and industries.
