Chair – Nordin Ramli

NORDIN RAMLI is an award recipient of Top Research Scientist Malaysia (TRSM) and Young Scientist Network (YSN) by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, in 2018 and 2014, respectively. He received a B.Eng degree in electrical engineering from Keio University, Japan in 1999. He received the M.Eng and Ph.D. degrees, both in electronic engineering from The University of Electro-Communications, Japan in 2005and 2008, respectively. He has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry including research and development work. Previously, he was at Telekom Malaysia Berhad as network engineer from 1999-2008, and lecturer at Multimedia University, Malaysia from 2008-2009. Currently, he is a Senior Staff Researcher at the Wireless Innovation Department of Corporate Technology, MIMOS Berhad, Malaysia. He is overseeing the solution development of MIMOS’s in house technology to the government and enterprise sector, especially the IoTs and big data-related projects. On the research

Chair Elect – Bernard Lim

Bernard Lim is currently the Vice President, Director and co-founder of Appscard Group AS and Appscard Global Research & Innovation Center, a technology startup company working on biometric smartcard with R&D and Operation facility based out of Bayan Lepas, Penang. He has held various senior management roles in manufacturing in different industry that includes General Manager SAM E&E and Operations Manager in Jabil Circuit. He has also been involved as co-founder in multiple technology startup companies. He obtained his bachelor’s degree (B. Eng (Hons) In Electrical & Electronics) at Nottingham Trent University, United Kingdom and is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Business Administration in Wawasan Open University. He is a Professional Engineer and Fellow of Institution of Engineers, Malaysia, a senior member of IEEE and an Associate Fellow of ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET). He was the Past Chairman of IEEE Penang Joint Chapter and is currently an executive Committee of IEEE Electron Devices Society (EDS) Malaysia Chapter and Executive Committee of IEEE Electronic Packaging Society (EPS) Malaysia Chapter. Bernard is currently the Management Council of Penang Skill Development Center (PSDC), the Chairman of The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (Penang Branch), Executive Committee of IEM, IEM Council Member, Committee Member of IEM Material Engineering Technical Division and Past Chairman of IEM Electronic Engineering Technical Division. Ir Bernard is also an ASEAN Engineer Register (AER) Executive Committee and the permanent member for the technical committee on Innovation Management (NSC Y/TC11).

Past Chair – Md Pauzi Abdullah

Md Pauzi Abdullah (M’06, SM’13) is an Associate Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Johor Bahru, where he currently holds the position of Director (Electrical Power Engineering). He is also a Research Fellow at the Centre of Electrical Energy Systems (CEES), UTM. He is a Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council, United Kingdom, a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and a Certified Energy Manager registered with the ASEAN Energy Management Scheme (AEMAS). He is also a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, USA (SMIEEE) and a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM). He received the bachelors degree (B.Eng) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten), Malaysia in 2002, masters degree (M.Sc) in Electrical Power Engineering and doctorate degree (Ph.D) from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom in 2003 and 2008 respectively. His research interests include power systems analysis, systems security, deregulated electricity market and demand-side management. He has volunteered in many IEEE positions/activities since 2011. He was the Chair of student activities for IEEE Malaysia Section for 4 consecutive years (from 2012 until 2015). He initiated the first Leadership Camp for IEEE Student Branches in 2012, the first IEEE Malaysia Student Congress in 2013 and the first Online IEEE Malaysia Undergraduate Final Year Project Competition in 2014. Pauzi also actively involved in IEEE Power & Energy Society Malaysia Chapter. He was the Chair (2017-2018), Vice Chair (2015-2016), Secretary (2012-2013), Executive Committee (2011,2014) for IEEE Power & Energy Society Malaysia Chapter. Currently, he is the Chair-Elect for IEEE Malaysia Section (2019-2020). He has involved in many IEEE conferences where he served as the organizing committee. He was the General Chair for 2018 IEEE International Conference on Power and Energy (PECon2018) and General Co-chair for 10th IEEE PES Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference 2018 (APPEEC).

Secretary – Nur Idora Abdul Razak

Nur Idora Abdul Razak is a Senior Lecturer in Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam. She received her MSc. in Mobile and Personal Communications and PhD in Telecommunications from King’s College London, UK in 2008 and 2012 respectively. She was seconded to the University IT Office as a coordinator (2014-2018) and head of unit (2018-2020). She was also appointed as the chair of the university IT and Electronics Technical Committee (2018-2020). She is a member of Wireless Communication Technology (WiCoT) Research Group. Her research interest is on device-to-device communications, mobile edge computing and artificial intelligence (AI) in wireless communications.

Nabilah Ibrahim

(EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE - Professional Activities)

Nabilah Ibrahim starts her career at University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) in 2007 as tutor. Currently she is an associate professor of electrical and electronic engineering at UTHM. She received the B. Eng in Telecommunication Engineering and M. Eng in Computer Sciences both from Shibaura Institute of Technology Japan. She holds a doctorate degree in Electronic Engineering which she received from Tohoku University Japan in 2013. During her work in UTHM, she served as Head of Department of International Office from 2015-2017 and as Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Integrated Engineering (IJIE) from 2017-2022. She also involved in several Faculty committees including Postgraduate committee, Branding and Marketing committee, and Research and Publication committee. Dr. Nabilah research in Biomedical Electronic research area which include image processing, digital signal processing, and sensor and IOT application in medical devices. She is a member of IET and BEM. She also active in IEEE Malaysia Section as Honorary Secretary (2021- 2022) and serves as executive committee of IEEE EMBS Chapter (2014-2023).

Wan Nurshazwani Wan Zakaria

(EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE - Student Activities)

Wan Nurshazwani is an associate professor in the College of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA where she has been a faculty member since 2022. Currently, she is the head of UiTM-Toyohashi University of Technology Collaboration Lab which she received funding from Japan to foster stronger international academic and industry collaboration. Wan Nurshazwani graduated from Chiba University, Japan of BEng in Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, PhD in Robotics and MSc in Mechatronics from Newcastle University, UK. She began her academic career in Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), and actively engaged in research related to Robot Manipulation and Navigation, Sensor Fusion, Intelligent Mechatronic Systems and Computer Aided Diagnosis. She has published over 70 refereed journal and conference articles and received more than 17 academics and research awards. Apart from holding academic management roles such as the Head of Department of Mechatronics & Robotics Engineering, and Electronics Engineering, she also was involved in developing various undergraduate and postgraduate academic engineering programs. She is an active member of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (IEEE RAS) and serves as executive committee of IEEE RAS Malaysia Chapter (2014 – 2022).

Rosminazuin Ab Rahim

(EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE - Educational Activities)

Rosminazuin Ab Rahim, a graduate from Universiti Sains Malaysia in BEng (Hons) Electrical & Electronics Engineering has started her career as a QC engineer at Delphi Packard Electric (M) Sdn Bhd, Kuala Terengganu (Oct 1999 - Nov 2001). She was then appointed as an Assistant Lecturer at the Kulliyyah of Engineering, IIUM in January 2003. She obtained the Master of Science (Microelectronics) in 2004 and Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Microengineering and Nanoelectronics) in 2012 from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Currently, she is attached as an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Kulliyyah of Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia. Her research interests include Micro Electromechanical System (MEMS), flexible electronics and biosensors. She joined IEEE in 2012 and was appointed as the Executive Committee of IEEE EDS Malaysia Chapter since 2014 until now. During her involvement in IEEE, she received many educational grants for various STEM outreach focusing on underprivileged children including marginalized, orphan, and indigenous children. Due to her active involvements in community engagement projects, she received few awards with the recent ones are the 2021 Outstanding Portfolio Award from EDS Malaysia Chapter as well as 2021 Outstanding Women in Engineering Volunteer Award and 2021 Educational Activities Award by IEEE Malaysia Section. She is currently serving as the IEEE STEM Champion for R-10 region.

Mohd Hafiz Ismail

(EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE - Communication & Humanitarian Activities)

Mohd Hafiz Ismail a lecturer at School of Microelectronic Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). Hafiz obtained BEng in Electronic Engineering and MSc in Microelectronic System Design from University of Southampton, United Kingdom. He joined IEEE since 2010, currently the Vice Chair of IEEE Malaysia Section Sensors and Nanotechnology Joint Councils Chapter (2018-2019) and Executive Committee (Educational Activities) of IEEE Malaysia Section Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (2018-2019). Hafiz was the Ambassador of IEEE Day 2018 for Malaysia Section. His research interests are phononic crystal structure, surface acoustic waves and respiratory drug delivery. He was a visiting researcher at Micro Nano Sciences and System, FEMTO-ST Institute, Besancon Farance and Ultrasonic Lab, Institute of Applied Mechanics, National Taiwan University under Mobility Grant (2013) and Jim Gatheral Scholarship (2014), respectively.

SHAW FONG WONG

(EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE - Industrial Relations)

Shaw Fong Wong (M ’07, SM ’11) is currently the Engineering Department Manager in Assembly Test Manufacturing division of Intel Malaysia. He joined Intel Technology, Malaysia as the Technology Development Q&R Engineer back to Y2001. Over the years, he assumed different positions and portfolios related to packaging process, assembly, test and material technology developments. During his tenure, Shaw Fong supported multiple chipset development programs specialized in warpage and SJR testing development. He later harness competencies related to packaging process, assembly, test and material technology developments. In 2009, he was promoted to manage the ATTD-Malaysia Core Competency Laboratory and led a team of lab engineers and technicians working on mechanical and structural testing in supporting various package platform developments, virtual factory support and customer/industry engagements. His engagement also spread across APAC factories and dealing with standard transfer, direct start-up of product level warpage characterization. He led an engineering module team in Y2018 to enable a newly startup assembly test manufacturing focused on high volume wafer testing operation at Kulim. He accelerated the engineering module readiness including the new product introduction (NPI) support and transition for the factory ramping. Shaw Fong received his bachelor and master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from National University of Malaysia (UKM) and Science University of Malaysia (USM) respectively. He obtained his PhD degree from University of Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) in electronic packaging research. Shaw Fong has combined of total 8 patent fillings and Intel Trade Secrets and published more than 70 articles both in internal and external conference or technical journals. In his personal capacity, Shaw Fong has held multiple roles in IEEE/EPS organization, chairing many local or regional IEEE/EPS conferences in Malaysia and had been served as IEEE/EPS Malaysia Chapter chair since Y2016. He was nominated to receive the Outstanding Young Engineer Award and Region-10 Contribution Awards in 2010 and 2019 respectively by IEEE/EPS society too. In Oct’ 2022, Shaw Fong was elected as one of the Members-at-Large to the IEEE EPS BoG (Region-10) to serve for a three-year term for 2023 through 2025. Shaw Fong’s is very much into sports especially football (soccer) of which his favourite team is Liverpool FC, and he is a strong believer in: “You Never Walk Alone!”

Dalila Mat Said

(EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE - Humanitarian Actitivies and Climate Change)

Dalila Mat Said is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), where currently holds the position of Director Center of Electrical Energy Systems, (CEES) Institute of Future Energy, UTM. She is a Professional Engineer registered with Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), Registered Electrical Energy Manager certified under the Energy Commission, Certified Professional Measurement and Verification and Certified Energy Manager registered with the ASEAN Energy Management Scheme (AEMAS). She received her B.Eng, M.Eng, and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from UTM in 2000, 2003, and 2012, respectively. She was involved in power quality consultancy for over 10 years and served as an energy auditor for the commercial and industrial sector. She is a senior member of the Institute Electrical Electronic Engineer (SMIEEE), IEM graduate member as well as a Professional Technologist registered with the Malaysian Board of Technologies. Her research interest is on power quality, power system measurement and monitoring, electrical energy management, renewables energy and smart agriculture technologies.
