Chair – Fawnizu Azmadi Hussin
Fawnizu Azmadi Hussin (M’02, SM’14) is an Associate Professor of Electrical & Electronic Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Petronas. He was the Program Manager of Master by coursework program (2009-2013), the Deputy Head of Electrical & Electronic Engineering department (2013-2014) and the Director of Strategic Alliance Office (2014-2018) at UTP. He spent one year as a Visiting Professor at Intel Microelectronics (Malaysia)’s SOC DFx department in 2012-13.
He obtained the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Computer Design) from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, U.S.A. in 1999 and subsequently his M.Eng.Sc. in Systems and Control from the University of New South Wales, Australia in 2001. Dr Fawnizu obtained his PhD in 2008 at the Nara Institute of Science and Technology in Japan under the scholarship from the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho). He has one patent under his name and another five pending. Dr Fawnizu published more than 100 papers.
He is actively involved with the IEEE Malaysia Section as volunteers since 2009. He was the 2013 & 2014 Chair of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society Malaysia Chapter and currently serving as the Chair of IEEE Malaysia Section (2019 & 2020).
Past Chair – Mohammad Faizal Ahmad Fauzi

Mohammad Faizal Ahmad Fauzi (M’00, SM’10) received the B.Eng. degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College, London, UK in 1999, and the Ph.D. degree in Electronics and Computer Science from University of Southampton, Southampton, UK in 2004. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Multimedia University. His main research interests are in the area of signal and image processing, pattern recognition, computer vision and medical imaging. He was appointed as the Director for the Center for Quality Assurance and Academic Excellence (CQAAE) at MMU in August 2012. From May 2013 to June 2014, he was attached to the Clinical Image Analysis Lab at the Ohio State University, USA where he works on digital histopathology, especially on follicular lymphoma and glioblastoma diseases analysis. He has published more than 70 journal and conference articles to date. Mohammad Faizal is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), which he first joined in 2000. He was the chair for the Signal Processing Chapter from 2008 to 2013. Under his stewardship, the chapter started organizing their flagship events such as the IEEE International Conference on Signal and Image Processing Applications (ICSIPA) and the IPIARTI and SASSP workshops, as well as aggressively promoting the chapters through various activities such as workshops, seminars, DLP talks, competitions, social activities and membership drives throughout the country. Subsequently the chapter was awarded the first ever recipient of the IEEE Signal Processing Society Chapter of the Year Award in 2011. He was the general co-chair of ICSIPA2009 and the general chair for ICSIPA 2011. He is currently serving as the Chair of the IEEE Malaysia Section as well as the past chair of the Signal Processing chapter.
Chair Elect / Vice Chair – Md Pauzi Abdullah (UTM)

Md Pauzi Abdullah (M’06, SM’13) is an Associate Professor at the School of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Johor Bahru, where he currently holds the position of Director (Electrical Power Engineering). He is also a Research Fellow at the Centre of Electrical Energy Systems (CEES), UTM. He is a Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council, United Kingdom, a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) and a Certified Energy Manager registered with the ASEAN Energy Management Scheme (AEMAS). He is also a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, USA (SMIEEE) and a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM). He received the bachelors degree (B.Eng) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten), Malaysia in 2002, masters degree (M.Sc) in Electrical Power Engineering and doctorate degree (Ph.D) from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom in 2003 and 2008 respectively. His research interests include power systems analysis, systems security, deregulated electricity market and demand-side management.
He has volunteered in many IEEE positions/activities since 2011. He was the Chair of student activities for IEEE Malaysia Section for 4 consecutive years (from 2012 until 2015). He initiated the first Leadership Camp for IEEE Student Branches in 2012, the first IEEE Malaysia Student Congress in 2013 and the first Online IEEE Malaysia Undergraduate Final Year Project Competition in 2014. Pauzi also actively involved in IEEE Power & Energy Society Malaysia Chapter. He was the Chair (2017-2018), Vice Chair (2015-2016), Secretary (2012-2013), Executive Committee (2011,2014) for IEEE Power & Energy Society Malaysia Chapter. Currently, he is the Chair-Elect for IEEE Malaysia Section (2019-2020). He has involved in many IEEE conferences where he served as the organizing committee. He was the General Chair for 2018 IEEE International Conference on Power and Energy (PECon2018) and General Co-chair for 10th IEEE PES Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference 2018 (APPEEC).
Hon Secretary – Rosmiwati Mohd Mokhtar (USM)

Rosmiwati Mohd-Mokhtar received her B.Eng. degree with honours and the M.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1999 and 2002, respectively. She received her Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology University, Australia in 2008. She joined the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia in October 2008. Currently she is an Associate Professor and a Mechatronic Program Chairman at the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, USM. She is also a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng.) of Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) of Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), Senior Member to Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a member to Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM). Her research interests include system identification, advanced control system design, process modelling, process optimization, mechatronics applications and underwater system applications.
Rosmiwati has been with IEEE for 16 years. She is also a member to IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE), IEEE Control System Society (CSS) and IEEE Oceanic Engineering Society (OES.) She is currently a Chair for IEEE WIE Malaysia Section (2019-2020), Secretary to IEEE OES Malaysia Chapter (2015-2018) and the executive committee to IEEE CSS Malaysia Chapter (2019). She is also a counsellor to IEEE USM Student Branch (2013-2015) and advisor to IEEE USM WIE Affinity Group (2016-2019).
Hon Treasurer – Chong Yu Zheng (UTAR)

Chong Yu Zheng actively involved in IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Malaysia Chapter. Previously served as the Chair for two (2) consecutive terms 2013 – 2015 Sessions, and the Chapter has been bestowed with Most Outstanding Chapter in 2015.
Actively involved in development of rehabilitation, monitoring devices for children with movement disorders. My general interest lies in biomedical instrumentation, biomechanics, rehabilitation engineering and related fields in biomedical engineering.
Leading a group of students and young enthusiastic engineers alongside with fellow IEEE volunteers, in humanitarian projects that were awarded grants from IEEE-EPICS for developing a cost-effective and affordable handcycle to rehabilitate children with movement disorders.

Alpha Agape Gopalai

Alpha Agape graduated with a B.Eng (Hons) in the field of Mechatronics Engineering. He then went on to do his Ph.D with Monash University in the area of biomechanics. His area of expertise and research interest involves the design of intelligent/ autonomous systems particularly for the use of clinical/ sports biomechanics. He is also actively involved in related research areas such as motion analysis, wired/wireless instrumentation, signal processing, and artificial intelligence and smart systems in biomechanics.
Alpha Agape first joined IEEE in 2006 as a student member, pioneering the formation of the student branch at Monash University Malaysia. As a member, he served as Student Branch Counsellor for the IEEE Student Branch in Curtin University Sarawak, between 2012 and 2014. It was during this time that he was awarded the “IEEE Outstanding Branch Counselor Award”. In 2016, he assumed the role of Student Branch Counsellor at Monash University Malaysia. Alpha Agape is also the current chapter chair of Engineering in Medicine & Biology, Malaysia Chapter.
Haidawati Mohamad Nasir

Dr Haidawati Mohamad Nasir is a senior lecturer at the Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Institute of Information Technology. She obtained her PhD degree from the department of Electrical and Electronic, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow in 2012. Her research interest is in the signal and image processing with application to super-resolution image reconstruction, image enhancement and computer vision
Azah Syafiah Mohd Marzuki (TM R&D)

Azah Syafiah M. Marzuki holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree, major in Microwave Communications from Multimedia University, Cyberjaya. After she graduated in 2002, she started her career with TM R&D as a researcher for Wireless & Communications research and commercialization projects until present. She then pursued Master of Science in Communications Engineering at Durham University, United Kingdom in 2008.
She joined IEEE in 2011 and then she started volunteering for IEEE Malaysia as an executive member of IEEE Malaysia Antennas & Propagation/Microwave Theory & Technique/EMC Joint Chapter and currently serving as secretary for 2018-2020 committee. She is also actively involved in IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) and holds membership of IEEE Young Professionals, IEEE Communication society, IEEE Future Networks and IEEE Entrepreneurship Exchange Community. Since 2011, she has been organizing technical and non-technical events such as IEEE International RF & Microwave Conference (RFM2018), IEEE International Conference on Applied Electromagnetics (APACE2019), 2018 IEEE Malaysia Bowling Tournament and coordinating Women in Microwaves (WiM) program. She also initiated five series of Malaysia-IEEE Microwave Seminar (MY-IMS) in 2017 for supporting Asia Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC2017). She is now serving IEEE Malaysia section as executive member for Professional Activities and Industry Linkages portfolio (2019-2020).
Mohd Hafiz Ismail (UniMAP)

Mohd Hafiz Ismail a lecturer at School of Microelectronic Engineering, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). Hafiz obtained BEng in Electronic Engineering and MSc in Microelectronic System Design from University of Southampton, United Kingdom. He joined IEEE since 2010, currently the Vice Chair of IEEE Malaysia Section Sensors and Nanotechnology Joint Councils Chapter (2018-2019) and Executive Committee (Educational Activities) of IEEE Malaysia Section Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (2018-2019). Hafiz was the Ambassador of IEEE Day 2018 for Malaysia Section.
His research interests are phononic crystal structure, surface acoustic waves and respiratory drug delivery. He was a visiting researcher at Micro Nano Sciences and System, FEMTO-ST Institute, Besancon Farance and Ultrasonic Lab, Institute of Applied Mechanics, National Taiwan University under Mobility Grant (2013) and Jim Gatheral Scholarship (2014), respectively.
Fakhrul Zaman Rokhani (UPM)

Fakhrul Zaman Rokhani (S’07, M’09) received the B.S. degree in University of Technology Malaysia, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degree from the University of Minnesota, USA. He was with Intel Penang Design Center as visiting professor designing chipset for Intel Core processors on 32nm Intel process technology, was with Huawei Technologies for CEO coaching program, visiting scholar at the ASIC & Systems State Key Lab in Fudan University, China, visiting assistant professor at Al-Neelain University, Sudan, visiting professor at Celal Bayar University, Turkey and Univeritas Brawijaya, Indonesia. He is currently the senior lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering Universiti Putra Malaysia and heads the Gerontechnology program at MyAgeing Institute, Computer and Embedded Systems Lab and Smart System and System-on-Chip (S3oC) research group, and a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
His current research interests include designing IoT systems, system-on-chip (SoC) design and automation, and sensors for biological application. He has published more than 80 journals, conference articles and book chapters (including 5 IEEE journals) and 1 patent pending to date. He has secured more than RM500k public grants and more than RM2 million private grants from industry including cash and in-kind, in which he leads as a principal investigator. Research works from his group has been recognized with several awards locally and internationally.
He serves as an Editor-in-Chief for IEEE CASS (M) newsletter founded in 2015 and associate editor for IEEE CASS society newsletter, past chair for IEEE Consumer Electronics (M) Chapter, executive committee in the IEEE CASS (M) Chapter and was a Treasurer for the IEEE GOLD. He serves as the technical program and track chairs, and publication chair for many flagship IEEE conferences.
Robiah Ahmad

Robiah Ahmad graduated with a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Evansville, Indiana, U.S.A and then obtained her M.Sc. in Information Technology for Manufacture from Warwick Manufacturing Group, University of Warwick, UK. She completed her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia. She is currently an Associate Professor in the Razak faculty of Technology and Informatics, UTM Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She has more than 20 year’s experience as a research scientist and published more than 80 peered reviewed international journal papers / proceedings in areas of instrumentation and control, system modeling and identification and evolutionary computation. Currently, she holds position as an Executive Committee for Humanitarian Activities IEEE Malaysia Section and Chair for IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society Malaysia Chapter.
Nordin Ramli

NORDIN RAMLI is an award recipient of Top Research Scientist Malaysia (TRSM) and Young Scientist Network (YSN) by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, in 2018 and 2014, respectively. He received a B.Eng degree in electrical engineering from Keio University, Japan in 1999. He received the M.Eng and Ph.D. degrees, both in electronic engineering from The University of Electro-Communications, Japan in 2005and 2008, respectively. He has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry including research and development work. Previously, he was at Telekom Malaysia Berhad as network engineer from 1999-2008, and lecturer at Multimedia University, Malaysia from 2008-2009. Currently, he is a Senior Staff Researcher at the Wireless Innovation Department of Corporate Technology, MIMOS Berhad, Malaysia. Mohemmed Hussein

Mohammed Hussein is a recent graduate of Multimedia University (MMU) with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Currently, he is pursuing his master’s degree in Engineering Science as a graduate research assistant at the same university. Mohammed joined IEEE in 2016 and started his volunteering work as a Vice-Chair for IEEE MMU SB. In 2017, he was elected as a Chair of the SB. Considering his excellent experience with IEEE Students, he was appointed as Malaysia Section Student Representative 2019-2020. In 2020, he founded IEEE PES Student Branch Chapter at MMU. Currently, he is serving as an ExComm for IEEE Malaysia Section Consultants Network Affinity Group (CNAG). Mohammed has been IEEE Malaysia Best Members Recruiter over the past 4 years recruiting over 320 members. He has received multiple awards on a personal level as well as team level. His latest award associated with IEEE, was R10 SAC Outstanding Student Volunteer Award 2019.
