33rd IEEE MALAYSIA SECTION ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM)

The 33rd IEEE Malaysia Section Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held on 11th February 2023.  

The section’s constitution stipulated that the election for a new executive committee (ExCom) shall be done every 2 years, hence there will be an election for a new set of ExCom at this coming AGM.

Ahmad Shukri bin Muhammad Noor is Associate Professor at Universiti Putra Malaysia. Published more than 80 high impact journals with H-index of 23. Currently holding a management post as Headmaster/Principle at Kolej Tan Sri Aishah Ghani, UPM. Involves with other humanitarian NGO such as HOPE and Kuala Tahan Birdwatcher to bring STEM education and welfare to anak orang asli suku Bateq.

Candidate 3 : Rozita Jailani

 

Ir. Dr Rozita Jailani is an Associate Professor in Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Fellow at Integrative Pharmacogenomics Institute, UiTM and Visiting Scholar at Eureka Robotics Centre, Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK. Her research interests are in Biomedical Engineering in the areas of development of exoskeleton for rehabilitation and mobility, image processing for medical imaging, gait analysis of brain impaired patients and artificial intelligence system for many applications. Ir. Dr Rozita Jailani is currently a principal investigator for several International and National Grants total of more than RM1M and has been actively involved with research since 2002. She is the author of over 180 papers and technical reports and an active consultant for government and industry in these areas and owned more than 7 intellectual property rights. She has received more than 30 awards from various innovation exhibitions and competitions including special awards from MTE, Dreamcatcher and Royal Academy of Engineering, UK. She serves on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems and reviewer and track chair for the many refereed conferences. She had previously won several international & national innovation awards and her works have been published in several local newspapers. Ir. Dr Rozita Jailani is a Senior Member of IEEE, member of IET and Board of Engineers, and a Technical Committee of Household Appliances (TCHA) for Department of Standard Malaysia. She is also a co-founder of Maker Talent for Digital Innovation (MTDI) Space. MTDI Space has secured more than RM1 million sponsorship from various organisations which has transformed the space into a hi-tech training centre especially for schools’ teachers and students. Since 2017, with the set-up of MTDC space, many STEM related programs has been organised which gives the most impact to more than 3000 students and 1000 teachers and IEEE is the co-organiser for most of MTDI programs. This space has also become a reference for school robotics clubs in the Klang Valley.

Candidate 1 : Nur Idora Abdul Razak

Nur Idora Abdul Razak is a Senior Lecturer in Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Shah Alam. She received her MSc. in Mobile and Personal Communications and PhD in Telecommunications from King’s College London, UK in 2008 and 2012 respectively. She was seconded to the University IT Office as a coordinator (2014-2018) and head of unit (2018-2020). She was also appointed as the chair of the university IT and Electronics Technical Committee (2018-2020). She is a member of Wireless Communication Technology (WiCoT) Research Group. Her research interest is on device-to-device communications, mobile edge computing and artificial intelligence (AI) in wireless communications.

Candidate 2 : Bhuvendhraa Rudrusamy

I obtained a diploma in Electro-Mechanical Engineering from Politeknik Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’Adzam Shah in the year 2000. Thereafter,I worked as an Associate Product Test Engineer in Agilent Technologies and was responsible for the development and validation of Voltage Control Oscillator (VCO) devices. I then pursued my Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and graduated in 2004 and 2006, respectively. Subsequently, I joined Avago Technologies as an IC Design Engineer and was responsible for silicon design and validation of System on Chip camera modules and industrial encoders. I moved to Intel as Component Design Engineer in the year 2008 and was responsible for silicon verification of Intel-based System of Chip, Audio DSP and Digital Microphone ICs. During my tenure, I received many Intel awards and recognitions for delivering the product that exceeded expectations. I was Verification Architect and Validation Lead prior to pursuing my Ph.D. at Universiti Sains Malaysia in 2014. I’m currently attached to Heriot-Watt University Malaysia as Assistant Professor. My research interests include 3D shape analysis, 3D image registration, pattern recognition, computer vision, artificial intelligence, embedded systems, and Internet-of-Things. I’m a Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate, APEC Engineer, International Professional Engineer, and ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer. I’m a Fellow of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia, a Fellow of Higher Education Academy, an Associate Fellow of ASEAN Academy of Engineering & Technology, and Senior Member of IEEE. I was awarded with Honorary Member of ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisation for ASEAN level contribution. Currently, I’m serving in Standing Committees of

Candidate 3: Mohd Hafiz Ismail

Mohd Hafiz Ismail a lecturer at the Faculty of Electronic Engineering & Technology, Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP). Hafiz obtained BEng in Electronic Engineering and MSc in Microelectronic System Design from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom. His research interests are phononic crystal structure, surface acoustic waves, and respiratory drug delivery. He was a visiting researcher at Micro Nano Sciences and System, FEMTO-ST Institute, Besancon France and Ultrasonic Lab, Institute of Applied Mechanics, National Taiwan University under Mobility Grant (2013) and Jim Gatheral Scholarship (2014), respectively. Hafiz joined IEEE in 2010 and was the Vice Chair of IEEE Malaysia Section Sensors and Nanotechnology Joint Councils Chapter (2018-2019) and Executive Committee (Educational Activities) of IEEE Malaysia Section Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (2018-2019). He was the Ambassador of IEEE Day 2018 – 2019 for the Malaysia Section and the Region 10 Regional Lead for IEEE Day 2021-2022.  At Malaysia Section, Hafiz was the Educational Activities Chair (2019-2020) and Humanitarian Activities Chair (2021-2022). Candidate 4 : Nabilah Ibrahim

Nor Idora

Nabilah Ibrahim is an associate professor of electrical and electronic engineering at University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM). She received the B. Eng in Telecommunication Engineering and M. Eng in Computer Sciences both from Shibaura Institute of Technology Japan. She holds a doctorate degree in Electronic Engineering which she received from Tohoku University Japan. During her work in UTHM, she served as Head of Department of International Office from 2015-2017 and currently she served as Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Integrated Engineering (IJIE). Dr. Nabilah involves in Biomedical Electronic research area which include image processing, digital signal processing, and sensor and IOT application in medical devices. She is a member of IET and BEM.


Candidate 5 : Rosminazuin AB Rahim

Rosminazuin Ab Rahim is Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Kulliyyah of Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia. She was appointed as Academic Advisor for BEEE program since 2020 as well as a student club advisor of Perintis Youth IIUM Chapter. Her research field of interest is Micro Electromechanical System (MEMS) and biosensors. She received a few research grants (FRGS 2021, FRGS 2015) with some industrial collaborations with JABIL Circuit Sdn Bhd.

Candidate 6 : Wan Nurshazwani binti Wan Zakaria

Wan Nurshazwani is an associate professor in the College of Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA where she has been a faculty member since 2022. Currently, she is the head of UiTM-Toyohashi University of Technology Collaboration Lab which she received funding from Japan to foster stronger international academic and industry collaboration.

Wan Nurshazwani graduated from Chiba University, Japan of BEng in Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, PhD in Robotics and MSc in Mechatronics from Newcastle University, UK. She began her academic career in Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), and actively engaged in research related to Robotics, Intelligent Mechatronic Systems and Computer Aided Diagnosis. She has published over 70 refereed journal and conference articles and received more than 17 = academics and research awards.

Apart from holding academic management roles such as the Head of Department of Mechatronics & Robotics Engineering, and Electronics Engineering, she also was involved in developing various undergraduate and postgraduate academic engineering programs. Wan Nurshazwani is also a Fellow and Senior Engineering Expert for innovationlab.my, a collaboration project with Fraunhofer Institute of Mechatronics, Germany, which aims to empower academia-industry linkage with cutting edge technologies to stay ahead in the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
