Abstract – Risk and Opportunities

“A person who takes calculated risks will find thousands of opportunities”.

This popular quotation is valid for all times provided that the word “calculated” is properly defined for a given space-time frame. In the last year, global-scale Covid-19 lockdown made many amendments to both opportunities and risks in the engineering spheres. Even the Demarcations of the term “engineering” have now become blurred, and in some scenarios have completely disappeared. Thus, whether it is a professional career or a business venture, one who seeks opportunities in previously well-defined fields, such as electrical engineering, finds that her chances become slim with time. Now the question is whether it is advisable for a country to adopt policies on long-term infrastructure development based on the short-term technological gains of one mode of vehicles? On a different note, this uncertainty of scenarios opens doors to another domain; development of intelligent algorithms for predicting the direction of technology advancement in the future.

Hope to see you at the event.
