Localisation using RFID and Contactless Sensing Webminar

Event Description

In collaboration with IEEE UniMAP Student Branch, IEEE UTAR Student Branch and UTAR Research Centre – Centre for Healthcare Science and Technology, IEEE Council on RFID – Malaysia Chapter would like to invite you to our technical talk by Professor Qammer H. Abbasi from the University of Glasgow. Please find the following details of the technical talk:

Date: 31 May 2022 (Tuesday)

Time: 5.00pm – 6.00pm

Speaker: Professor Qammer H. Abbasi (James Watt School of Engineering,  University of Glasgow, United Kingdom.)

Title: Localisation using RFID and Contactless Sensing

Registration Link: https://forms.gle/d2DG9xKSvwx1QeaC6

The talk will start with RFID and how it collaborates with the internet of things. RFID has becoming promising technologies to revolutionize the field of tracking and identification. Since the last decade, RFID is rapidly used in identification, tracking, monitoring, and sensing applications and it is considered a good solution for all applications mentioned above. Passive UHF RFID Tags are the most promising candidates because of their long-read range, low-cost inkjet printable structures and thus favoring mass production for deployment at large scales. Some RFID tag designs and challenges will be presented in the talk. In the second part contactless sensing  to provide remote  healthcare solutions  for vulnerable people by identifying particular movements such as falls, gait and breathing disorders will be presented. Finally, Prof Qammer will talk about how contactless sensing can work together to localise the subject.

Admission is Free. An e-certificate will be provided to attended participants.

We look forward to your participation in this event.  Thank you.

Best regards,

Dr. Pei Song CHEE
