Call for Participation – 2nd IEEE Five Minutes Final Year Project (5MFYP) Competition 2021 by IEEE Young Professionals Malaysia

IEEE Young Professionals Malaysia in collaboration with IEEE PES Malaysia Chapter would like to invite all 2021 Final Year Project Students and their Supervisors to participate in the 2nd IEEE 5MFYP Competition 2021.

The 2nd IEEE 5MFYP Competition 2021 is open to all Undergraduate Students (Diploma and Bachelor’s Degree) who are currently undertaking their final year projects or have recently (in 2021) completed their studies. Participants must be registered students at any Malaysian Institution of Higher Learning (Government & Private).

  • Registration Deadline is 18th November 2021
  • Participants are required to Register at https://rebrand.ly/5mfyp and make a payment of entrance fee as low as RM 80 only!
  • Registered participants will be trained by globally recognized science communicators via 4 grooming workshops.
  1. Grooming Workshop 1: 

Importance and Opportunities in Science Communication 

Speaker: Ts. Dr Magaret Sivapragasam, Science Finder CAS Future Leader Award by ACS

  1. Grooming Workshop 2: 

Tips and Tricks in delivering an effective presentation

Speaker: Dr. Ahmad Salahuddin Ahmad Harrithudin, National Coach for Young Persons’ World Lecture Competition 2019

  1. Grooming  Workshop 3:

Tips and Tricks to tackle 5MFYP

Speaker: Dr. Ashwin Charles Benedict, Champion of 3MT (3 Minute Thesis) Asia Pacific 2017

Break-out sessions with 5MFYP trainers

  • Registered participants are required to submit their final year project presentation in a video recording form of maximum 5 minutes using a single static slide (further details can be retrieved from the briefing pack https://rebrand.ly/5mfyp-briefingpack) for the Semi Final evaluation by 3rd December 2021. 
  • Shortlisted participants will be competing LIVE (virtually) in the Grand Finale on 18th December 2021. 
  • Amazing Prizes to be won:
  1. MYR 1,000 with a Certificate of Award as the champion
  2. MYR 750 with a Certificate of Award as 1st Runner Up
  3. MYR 500 with a Certificate of Award as 2nd Runner Up


All participants will receive Certificate of Participation.
