Description :

This is a Malaysia Government FRGS funded project to improve the food security in Malaysia by using plasma modification. Plasma modification is based on ionized gases treatment that enhances seed germination and eradicates certain plants diseases and parasites without modifying the genetic make-up. Here, this project aims to reconcile the underlying physics and chemistries of this atmospheric plasma treatment with biological evidences of no-DNA changes for Malaysian food crops. This project is in collaboration with MARDI Malaysia. Minimum CGPA for UKM postgraduate candidate is 2.75; English requirement is MUET band 4 (Malaysia), 550 (TOEFL) or 6.0 (IELTS). Student’s first degree is preferably in Physics or Chemistry; but any engineering and pure science degree holder will be considered. Candidate will be paid stipend which commensurate with their qualification and candidature. Please contact Dr Kim Siow (kimsiow@ukm.edu.my)
