|Description||Minimum requirements: Outstanding mathematical background and a first class honours degree (or equivalent) from top-tier universities. Strong English writing and programming skills as well as in-depth wireless communication knowledge are also highly recommended.
Details: After the successful completion of the study, UK PhD degree will be awarded. PROF. DR. Lajos Hanzo and ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. Won SeungHwan will supervise the successful candidate during his or her study. The candidate will have an opportunity to study in the UK during one year.
Description: Wireless communications has played an essential role in realising the world as we experience it. Key services will continue to proliferate and become more mobile, whilst on-demand information and entertainment will be delivered over wireless networks, which will result in our ‘always-on’ society. Future wireless systems will have to support an increased traffic volume, by increasing capacity and by improving efficiency with respect to cost, energy, and spectrum utilisation. Invoking millimetre Wave communication is a promising way of circumventing the spectrum gridlock at lower frequencies, whilst simultaneously providing high-bandwidth communication channels. Deep Learning (DL) algorithms are inherently data-driven and rather than depending upon model assumptions and approximations and hence they implicitly capture hidden environmental effects. Base on the above-mentioned, a successful candidate will design novel intelligent adaptive MIMOs, where the MIMO gains can be adapted according to dynamic variations of the channel environments and the users’ required QoS, which is optimised for intelligent Post-New Radio Communications for the ‘Always-On’ Information Society. Accordingly, we are keen to find interested students with the backgrounds illustrated above to apply.
Benefits: In addition to tuition fees exemption, a monthly stipend of RM2,300 will be available during Malaysian residence period (up to two and half years). Similarly, a monthly stipend during UK residence period (one year) will also be available (a reasonable allowance will be given.).
