We are pleased to inform that UniKL IEEE Student Branch and University Kuala Lumpur British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI) is organizing a Public Seminar on “Emerging Trends in Healthcare Technology”. Details of the seminar are as below
Date: 27th Aug 2018 (Monday)
Venue: TTL2, UniKL BMI
Time : 2.00pm-5.00 pm
Our invited speaker from Swansea University, UK, Professor Owen J. Guy who is Head of Chemisty, Director of the Centre for Nanohealth in the College of Engineering at Swansea University; a unique facility applying device fabrication & cleanroom semiconductor processing to healthcare problems in collaboration with industry. OJG is also Head of the Systems Process & Engineering Centre (SPEC) one of 3 research centres within of Engineering. OJG’s group has 14 years’ experience in clean room device fabrication (silicon, graphene & MEMS technology). OJG has developed graphene biosensors and microfluidics technology through EPSRC and Innovate UK projects. Owen Currently leads EPSRC and Marie Curie sensor projects at Swansea – in collaboration withPlymouth University – and a Newton fund project developing sensors for hepatitis. OJG has PI grant income of more than £4 million. OJG has published 60 papers and holds 2 granted patents (WO2011004136 and P100072GB). Owen’s group is developing the graphene biosensors for detection Dementia biomarkers – directly related to this application. Indeed, several biomarkers have been tested with our sensors. It is now critical that our sensors are able to reach the next stage – testing with clinical samples.
We also bring Dr Mohd Noor Ahmad who was a professor at the School of Material Engineering University Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and a research fellow at the Center of Excellence for Advance Sensor Technology (CEASTech). He received his PhD in physical chemistry from University of New Castle upon Tyne, UK in 1982 and joined University Sains Malaysia (USM). He has more than 30 years experience in interdisciplinary fabrication of chemical sensors, biosensors and array sensors which includes an electronics tongue (e-tongue) and an electronics nose (e-nose). Recently he has been involve in development of nano materials for nano sensors and nano biosensors, nano antenna for presymtomatic detection of cancer diseases.
