Description Billions of dollars and countless hours are spent annually worldwide for all aspects of chronic wound care. The burden is growing rapidly due to increasing health care costs, an aging population and a sharp rise in the incidence of diabetes and obesity. There is a need for an intelligent tool to analyze wound images, characterize wound tissue composition, measure wound size, and monitor changes in wound over time. Such an application can potentially reduce clinicians’ workload considerably; make the treatment and care more consistent and accurate; increase the quality of documentation in the medical record and enable clinicians to achieve quality benchmarks for wound care. We have recently secured a grant from Sciencefund (MOSTI) for this project. The project is in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur Hospital and Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

– Bachelor of Computer Science / IT or Bachelor of Engineering (2nd Class Honour and above)
– Proficiency in Matlab/C++ languages
– Some experience with OpenCV is prefered
– Good command in written and oral English
– Proactive and able to carry out research independently
– Open to Malaysian as well as International

– Design and experiment on new algorithm related to signal and image processing, pattern recognition and biomedical informatics
– Implementation of software prototype using Matlab/C++
– Research publications
