(Free) DLM on Signal Processing and Machine Learning by Prof. Asoke K. Nandi

We would like to cordially invite interested colleagues and friends to the following technical talk:

Title: Signal Processing and Machine Learning

Speaker: Professor Asoke K. Nandi FRAEng FIEEE FIET, Brunel University, U.K.

Date/Time: 15:00 to 16:00 hrs, 17 November 2016

Venue: Lecture Room 3, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, No 1 Jalan Venna P5/2, Precinct 5, 62200, Putrajaya.

Abstract:

In this lecture, Professor Nandi will be introducing aspects of signal processing and machine learning; and some of the applications that he has studied over the past decades. This lecture will cover a very broad research landscape and highlighting some of the successes.

About the Speaker:

Professor Asoke Nandi is currently the Chair and Head of Electronic and Computer Engineering at Brunel University, London. He has move to Brunel from the University of Liverpool where he held the David Jardine Chair of Signal Processing in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics. He was the Head of the Signal Processing and Communications Research Group which he established in 1999. Professor Nandi received his PhD from the University of Cambridge. Subsequently, he held positions in Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, CERN, Queen Mary University of London, the University of Oxford, Imperial College London, University of Strathclyde, and the University of Liverpool.

Professor Nandi has published over 200 papers in refereed international journals (total: 500 technical papers) with an h-index of 60 (all citation figures in this resume are from Google Scholar). He has made pioneering theoretical and applied contributions to statistical signal processing, wireless communications, machine learning, and biomedical signal processing, with growing applications in genomic signal processing and brain signal processing, and Big Data.

Professor Nandi currently holds several distinguished international fellowships which include: Fellow, Royal Academy of Engineering, U.K. (2014), Fellow, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, U.S.A. (2011), Fellow, British Computer Society, U.K. (2007), Fellow, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, U.K. (2007), Fellow, Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, U.K. (2002), Fellow, Institution of Engineering and Technology [formerly The Institution of Electrical Engineers, U.K. (1996)], Fellow, Institute of Physics, London, U.K. (1992), Fellow, Institute of Mathematics and its Applications, U.K. (1989), Fellow, Cambridge Philosophical Society, Cambridge, U.K. (1979).
