Region 10 Professional Activities Committee (PAC)
Call for Proposal
Deadline: April 25, 2015
Call for PA Proposal and PAC Establishment
R10 Professional Activities Committee (PAC) invites you to submit proposals to organize professional activities (PA) in your section. If there is no PAC in the section, we encourage you to establish the PAC soon. We’ll support distinctive proposals preferably to the section in which PAC has been established.
The format of PA can be in variety. In general all the activities to benefit the profession and career of the members can be considered as professional activities. In R10 PA is defined as above except technical conference and seminar due to there is a committee of conference and technical seminar in R10 to support them. So based on this requirement you can design PA in your section.
Try to organize distinctive PA based on the interests of IEEE members. PA proposal should include:
1, Name of PA project
2, Name of PAC chair, contact information
3, Content and format of the PA project
4, Objective and significance of the PA project
5, Number of participants expected
6, PA project schedule: including planning, implementing, and reporting, etc.: (the date of final summary report should not be later than 20 October 2015)
7, Budget plan
After evaluation by R10 PAC, 3 distinctive PA proposals will be selected to support. R10 supports 50% for large section, 75% for medium section and 100% for small section up to USD 500.00 if the remaining support could be provided by section or other sources.
Proposal must be new project and sent by section chair or section PAC chair with endorsement from section chair.
Deadline: April 25, 2015.

Thanks for clarification. Dr. Liza mentioned recently that we are now considered a large Section – that means that a PA proposal from us will only be funded 50% by R10. Thus, I have a few queries (being new to this and need info for budget purpose) :
1) any proposal submitted through us will have to be financed 50% by Section or via other means – correct?
2) if USD500 is max from R10, then the same amount or more (if budget >USD1,000) will have to come from Section and/or external sources. Correct?
Look forward to your advice.
Tx & rgds,

I have already forwarded to chapter chairs. We don’t need to set up since Franklin’s portfolio is for both professional and industry. I forwarded to Franklin for his action to apply grant for section’s professional activity.

Dear Dr. Zu,
Whilst it is good to have Franklin help look into the setting up of a PAC and perhaps coordinate all PA proposals, would it not be appropriate that this information be sent directly to all Chapter Chairs asap to seek PA proposals from members as the dateline for proposals is April 25.?
