Centre for Innovation in Medical Engineering (CIME) and IEEE UM Student Branch are pleased to announce 1-day course on: Overview of Low Voltage (LV) Electrical Installations of Healthcare Facilities to MS IEC 60364–7–710, which will be held in the Faculty of Engineering, University of Malaya on 26 June 2014 by IR. K.T. Lim.
This course shall overview the regulatory framework, standards, design, protection for safety, erection and selection of equipment, and initial testing and inspection of LV electrical installations of healthcare facilities complying with mandatory Malaysian Standard MS IEC 60364–7–710: Medical Locations.
PROFILE OF INSTRUCTOR
Ir. K.T. Lim received the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from University of Malaya in 1979 and Master of Science (Electrical) from National University of Singapore in 1991. He began his engineering career with semiconductor industries where he worked for eight years in semiconductor process, equipment maintenance and automatic, product, and test engineering before joining Singapore Polytechnics for three years as lecturer and industrial consultant in electrical and industrial electronics engineering and applications, while further his Masters of Science (Electrical) in NUS. Since returning to Malaysia in 1991, Ir. K.T. Lim has been actively involved in applications engineering in the field of low voltage electrical engineering, especially IEE, IEEE, MS IEC and IEC compliance, and electronics system and controller design. He is actively involved with engineering organization such as SIRIM Malaysian Standards on writing in electrical installations, protection and insulation, biomedical engineering and functional safety, and conducting seminars LV electrical safety of critical healthcare facilities. Moreover, Ir. K.T. Lim conducts specialized electrical installation and design courses to institutions and industries.
