CHAIR – BERNARD LIM

Ir Dr Bernard is the Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Appscard Group AS, specializing in biometric smartcards. He graduated with a Bachelor’s (Hons) Degree in electronic and electrical engineering from Nottingham Trent University, Master of Business Administration (MBA) from University of Portsmouth and Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from Wawasan Open University. He has also been appointed as an Adjunct Professor (Industry) at Asia Pacific University, Technology & Innovation (APU), and Associate Fellow Institute of Microengineering and Nanoelectronics (IMEN, UKM). 

He has 30 years of experience in the industry, holding running and senior management roles in electronic manufacturing as well as co-founding a few tech startups.  Currently, Bernard has been involved in technology startups since 2015.  Bernard has co-founded or founded 4 technology startups companies in Malaysia.  He manages companies from different levels of staff, as the founder of 5 people, up to 4000 employees.   Most of the involvement in startups comes from cutting edge technology.

He has been with IEEE for over 26 years and holds multiple positions at IEEE Region 10, and in various IEEE Technical Society, like IEEE Entrepreneurship, IEEE Electronics Packaging Society, and IEEE Electron Devices Society.   Currently he is the Chair, IEEE Malaysia Section (2025-2026), Chair IEEE Southeast Asia Council and Chair, IEEE System Council Malaysia Chapter.  He is also the Member of IEEE Committee on Global Semiconductor and Chair, IEEE Electron Device Society Communication.  He was also elected as the IEEE Electron Devices Society, Board of Governors, for the term 2025-2027.  He is currently the Chair, IEEE R10 Industry Relations Committee. He is also the current TAB Nomination and Appointments (N&A) Committee.

Bernard is a Professional Engineer, an Honorary Member of ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organization (AFEO), a Fellow, Institution of Engineers in Malaysia (FIEM), and Fellow, ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (FAAET).  He is currently the Vice President of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM) (National Engineering Body) and Board Member, Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM). Bernard is also the Chair, BEM Engineering Technology Accreditation Council (ETAC) and Vice Chair, BEM Engineering Accreditation Council (EAC).

He is also a permanent member for the technical committee on Innovation Management System (NSC 25/TC11) and has worked on various IEEE Standards like IEEE1588 and many other standards.  Bernard has also chaired many types of conference and events within IEEE and outside.

PAST CHAIR – NORDIN RAMLI

NORDIN RAMLI is an award recipient of Top Research Scientist Malaysia (TRSM) and Young Scientist Network (YSN) by the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, in 2018 and 2014, respectively. He received a B.Eng degree in electrical engineering from Keio University, Japan in 1999. He received the M.Eng and Ph.D. degrees, both in electronic engineering from The University of Electro-Communications, Japan in 2005and 2008, respectively. He has more than 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry including research and development work. Previously, he was at Telekom Malaysia Berhad as network engineer from 1999-2008, and lecturer at Multimedia University, Malaysia from 2008-2009. Currently, he is a Senior Staff Researcher at the Wireless Innovation Department of Corporate Technology, MIMOS Berhad, Malaysia. CHAIR ELECT – ROZITA JAILANI

Rozita Jailani is a Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Chief Executive Officer of UiTM Technoventure Sdn Bhd, and Director of the Eureka Global Nexus Centre, UiTM. She received her PhD in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering from the University of Sheffield, UK. Her research interests are in Biomedical Engineering, with a focus on assistive technology for children with special needs and patients with brain impairments, healthcare robotics, advanced image and signal processing, and artificial intelligence systems applied across various domains. Beyond academia, Rozita has extensive experience in managing businesses and leading technology ventures. She has been instrumental in establishing multiple startup companies, driving commercialization, and advancing technology transfer to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application. She has received more than 30 innovation awards, including recognitions from the Malaysia Technology Expo (MTE), Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF), Dreamcatcher, and the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK. A Senior Member of IEEE and a registered engineer under the Board of Engineers Malaysia, she actively champions STEM education initiatives. Notably, she became the first Malaysian to conduct a STEM program in the United Kingdom. Her dedication was recognized with the IEEE Women in Engineering Outstanding Volunteer Award in 2018 and the UK–Malaysia Education Institutional Partnership of the Year Award in 2024, conferred by the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the British Council.

SECRETARY – MAIZATUL ZOLKAPLI

Maizatul Zolkapli (M’2010, SM’2018) is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. She earned her PhD in Electrical Engineering from UiTM (2019), MSc in Microelectronic Engineering from Universiti Malaysia Perlis (2010), and Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Hons.) from Universiti Tenaga Nasional (2001). Her expertise lies in semiconductor and fiber optic technology, with a focus on the fabrication of microfluidic transistors and optical fiber sensors, and she has published extensively in IEEE conferences and journals. She has actively contributed to numerous IEEE Malaysia Section initiatives, serving as Treasurer of the Malaysia Section, Secretary of the IEEE EDS Malaysia Chapter, and in leadership roles across major conferences including TENCON, ICSE, ICP, RSM, and SCORED. During her tenure as EDS Chapter Secretary (2020–2022), the Chapter achieved significant recognition, receiving the IEEE Malaysia Section Outstanding Medium Chapter Award in 2021 and the Outstanding Large Chapter Award in 2022. These experiences have provided her with a deep understanding of IEEE’s mission and the importance of efficient coordination in delivering impactful outcomes. As a Professional Engineer registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, she is committed to bridging academia and industry while advancing the Section’s growth through effective initiatives, transparency, and active member engagement. Her dedication has been recognized with the IEEE EDS Malaysia Chapter Outstanding Volunteer Award (2021) and the Universiti Teknologi MARA University Academic Excellence Award for Community Engagement (2024).

TREASURER – NUR IDORA ABDUL RAZAK

Ts. Dr. Nur Idora Abdul Razak is a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of ElectricalEngineering, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. She holds a PhD in Telecommunication Research and Master’s degree in Mobile and Personal Communications from King’s College London, United Kingdom. She is a registered Professional Technologist with the Malaysia Board of Technologists. She is also a Senior Member and active volunteer of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), contributing to technical events, mentorship programs, and STEM outreach activities. Dr. Nur Idora’s research expertise lies in wireless communication technologies, with a focus on ultra-dense networks, federated learning, IoT applications and ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC). INDUSTRIAL RELATION – WONG SHAW FONG

Shaw Fong Wong (SM ’11) is the Engineering Department Manager at Intel Malaysia’s Assembly Test Manufacturing division. Since joining Intel in 2001, he has led various portfolios in packaging process, assembly, test, and material technology, supporting global chipset programs and factory startups, including high-volume wafer testing in Kulim. He holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering (UKM, USM) and a PhD in Electronic Packaging (UniKL). With 8 patents and 70+ publications, Shaw Fong is also an active leader in IEEE/EPS, serving as Malaysia Chapter Chair since 2016 and elected as IEEE EPS BoG Member-at-Large (2023–2025).

HUMANITARIAN ACTIVITIES AND CLIMATE CHANGE – AHMAD SHUKRI BIN MUHAMMAD NOOR

A. S. M. Noor (Senior Member, IEEE) is currently an Associate Professor with the Wireless and Photonics Networks Research Center of Excellent (WiPNET), Department of Computer and Communication Systems, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Malaysia. His research interests include optical sciences and smart systems. Published more than 90 publications, he is also an IEEE Malaysia Section Excomm Member. He is a Senior Member of Optica.

EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES – MOHAMAD YUSOFF BIN ALIAS

Professor Mohamad Yusoff Alias is a faculty member at Multimedia University (MMU), Malaysia, specializing in wireless communications, OFDM, multi-antenna systems, multiuser detection, genetic algorithms, and visible light communications. A Senior Member of IEEE, he has been actively involved in leadership roles, including serving as Chair of the IEEE Malaysia ComSoc/VTS Joint Chapter (2022–2024), which earned multiple prestigious IEEE awards in 2023. He is also a recipient of the 2020 IEEE Outstanding Branch Counsellor & Branch Chapter Advisor Award and continues to contribute through research, training, and consultations in 5G mobile networks.

COMMUNICATION AND NEWSLETTER – SHAMSUL AIZAM BIN ZULKIFLI

Shamsul Aizam Zulkifli (SMIEEE  22) was born in Selangor, Malaysia. He obtained his B.Eng. (Hons) and M.S. from University Putra Malaysia, Malaysia, and PhD in Control System Engineering from Loughborough University, UK, in 2003, 2006 and 2012, respectively. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Electrical Power Engineering, University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Malaysia. His current research interests are robust control system on power electronics application, parallel inverter applications and smart grid topology for inverter-grid operation. He has appointed as reviewer for several publishers such as IEEE Access, Elsevier MDPI (Mathematics, Energies), Springer Nature and others. As for social engagement he is actively involved in social activities conducted by IEEE Malaysia. Currently he is an IEEE Malaysia Section Communication and Newsletter leader for 2025 and 2026. He was General Chair for International Conference for Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ICON3E) in 2017 and 2019 which is once every two years conference conducted by UTHM and General Chair for 17th IEEE Student Conference on Research and Development (SCORED 2020) and participant as team members for many IEEE Conferences conducted by IEEE PELS Malaysia Chapter and IEEE IE/IA Malaysia Chapter since 2016. STUDENT ACTIVITIES – NUR ASHIDA SALIM

Nur Ashida Salim (M’2010, SM’2018) is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Electrical Power Engineering Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. She holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from UiTM (2015), a Master of Engineering in Power System & Electrical Energy from Universiti Malaya (2006), and a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Hons.) from UiTM (2003). Her research focuses on power system stability, renewable energy integration, and optimization for frequency and voltage control, with numerous publications in IEEE conferences and journals. An active IEEE volunteer, she has served as Chair of IEEE PES Malaysia Chapter (2024), leading the Chapter to receive the IEEE PES Outstanding Medium Chapter Award and as Counsellor for the IEEE UiTM Student Branch since 2019. A registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, she is dedicated to advancing engineering education, professional development, and industry–academia collaboration.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES – FATANAH BINTI MOHAMAD SUHAIMI

Fatanah Mohamad Suhaimi is an Associate Professor at the Advanced Medical and Dental Institute (AMDI) of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). She received her PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, in 2012, and a Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering from the International Islamic University Malaysia in 2008.

She specialises in computational modelling, medical instrumentation, and artificial intelligence in healthcare. She received the IEEE EMBS Early Career Achievement Award 2019 and a Research Fellowship from the Turkiye Scholarship Burslari of Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities in 2019.

With 27 years of experience at Motorola/Freescale/NXP Semiconductors Malaysia, Dr. Eu has led global teams in New Technology and Product Introduction (NTI/NPI) and earned recognition as a Notable Inventor at NXP. She has published 74 technical papers, 4 journals, and holds 24 filed patents, including 11 issued ones. Currently the Chair of the IEEE-EPS Malaysia Chapter, she recently received the prestigious IEEE Malaysia Women in Engineering Award.
